I Am Not Your Negro

I Am Not Your Negro

James Baldwin [Augustus 2, 1924] is one of my favorite prolific writers, thinkers, and activists.

His essays and novels are world-renowned, with his novel ‘if Beale Street could talk’ being adapted into a film and awarded with an academy award [2018]

‘I Am Not Your Negro’ is an adaptation [2016, Documentary] of ‘Remember This House’, an unfinished essay by James Baldwin. The documentary is a grim but realistic retelling of the ‘Civil Rights Era’ in America, focussing on the three leaders Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, and Medgar Evers. With the most epic narration by Samuel L. Jackson. I mean seriously epic, I have not heard a more fitting narration.

Europe often seeks to wash its hands from the social and political issues terrorizing the Americans. But James’ reasoning connects the two powers [America and Europe] then AND now.

James was one of the #realest, an OG and godfather to the civil rights movement.
